I LOVE to sleep.
I think even more than to eat (and this is a BIG statement because I
adore to eat!) but I find is more and more difficult for me to schedule
my runs in the afternoons and then do the rest of the activities with my
family without feeling overwhelmed.
Other
than the long runs on the weekends where I HAVE TO wake up early to fit
the run, my weekday runs are planned in the afternoons after work, but I
think that is part of the problem of my recent ‘apathy’ to run: I just
did not have enough time to do it all.
So
I have decided to give it a try to the morning runs. I was somehow
inspired by this month’s article in Runner's world magazine about the
advantages of early runs and all I can say is that the first 2 minutes
after that alarm goes off really-really-really SUCK!!, but that's about
it, because after that, one can't help but feel tremendously alive just
to take the courage to lace up your shoes and go out.
Yesterday's
morning fast 8 kilometers felt just great! I will try to do this every
morning during 2 or 3 weeks just until my body adapts to the torture of
waking up early, but I am sure I can handle this and will succeed!!!!!
Last
weekend was a running family affair, and it went excellent! My husband
ran a half marathon with hopes of qualifying for New York's marathon
next year, and me and my two angels ran together 5 k.
The
weather was perfect and the ambiance and organization of the Army run
in Ottawa were awesome, so we all ran with gusto and enjoying it all.
Jaime ran his half in 1:29:14, which gave him his dream ticket to NY!!!!
- I am super-ultra-duper proud of him...
And
I was also a blessed mom since I had the opportunity to run along with
my two young ladies and witness them running their butts off and taking
in all those wonderful vibes that only a race can give.
